MAC Hosts Re-Design Session for Youth Ambassadors

MAC plans a re-design session for youth ambassadors to update mobile diner buses.

The Metropolitan Action Commission (MAC) Workforce Division is set to host a re-design session for the 2025 MAC POWER Youth Brand Ambassadors. The event will take place on Saturday, February 1, at the Metro Action Headquarters located at 1281 Murfreesboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37217, starting at 11 a.m.

The session will involve 17 youth ambassadors in discussions and activities aimed at creating new exterior wraps for MAC’s four mobile youth diner café buses and reviewing the POWER Youth brand. The schedule begins with arrivals and sign-ins at 10:45 a.m., followed by introductions and lunch. Participants will learn about the history of the mobile diner, tour the diner, and engage in a re-imaging session for the diner and the MAC POWER Youth logo.

Since 2017, these mobile diner cafés have served as a solution to the lack of facilities providing summer meals in high-poverty areas. Supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Summer Food Program, the diners travel to communities to offer meals and programming during summer months. The diners, converted from school buses into café-style eateries, also serve as mobile customer service centers for families needing assistance, such as utility payments, and for events like community festivals. Each diner is equipped with amenities including air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and power outlets.

The MAC POWER Youth Program is designed to support youth development in Nashville, aligning with Mayor Freddie O’Connell’s vision to create safer communities and facilitate successful transitions from youth to adulthood for Davidson County residents.
