Police Investigate Attempted ATM Burglary in Murfreesboro

Murfreesboro Police are searching for three suspects in an attempted ATM burglary.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (June 26, 2024) – Detectives from the Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) are actively searching for three individuals involved in an attempted ATM burglary. The incident occurred at the Ascend Federal Credit Union on W. Clark Blvd. at 1:50 a.m. Sunday, following a burglary alarm.

When officers arrived, they found the ATM damaged but still intact, and no money was taken. Surveillance footage revealed that one male attempted to pry open the ATM using a crowbar, while another male attached a chain to the tow hitch of a red GMC Sierra pickup truck, which detectives have confirmed was stolen. The driver of the pickup tried to dislodge the ATM by pulling forward, but the chain broke, leading the suspects to flee the scene.

Nashville Police Urge Secure Vehicle Measures

The Nashville Police Department is advising residents to lock their car doors and secure valuables, especially firearms, following the theft of 406 guns from vehicles this year, with a total of 571 guns stolen in Davidson County in 2024. A special program initiated by the MNPD has resulted in 578 arrests, 307 recovered stolen vehicles, and 119 retrieved stolen guns, aiming to curb car theft and related crimes.
