Homicide Unit detectives have charged Dtarious Watkins, 24, with the targeted murder of Malachi Rybka, 18, which occurred on Tuesday afternoon inside an Edgehill Homes apartment located in the 1000 block of Edgehill Avenue.
The investigation revealed that Watkins traveled from the Napier-Sudekum area to the Edgehill apartment, where he allegedly entered and opened fire on Rybka. Rybka succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds at the scene. Watkins then allegedly traveled back to the Napier-Sudekum community, entering an apartment on Charles E. Davis Boulevard. He was located there later that night and taken into custody. During the arrest, detectives recovered three pistols from the apartment and found evidence suggesting that clothing worn by Watkins earlier in the day had been set on fire to destroy it.
Watkins is currently being held without bond pending a hearing in General Sessions Court. The case was advanced through the collaboration of Homicide detectives, Specialized Investigations Division TITANS detectives, and community members.
