The man responsible for Sunday afternoon’s fatal shooting near the intersection of Lewis and Winfrey Streets in the Napier community has been arrested. Calvin W. Kinzer, 45, a convicted felon, was wanted by the State of Tennessee for parole violation.
Kinzer was apprehended by Specialized Investigations Division TITANS detectives at a convenience market on Lebanon Pike. At the time of his arrest, he was found carrying one gun, with another located in his car.
During an interview with Homicide Unit detectives at police headquarters, Kinzer admitted to the shooting. He claimed that he acted in self-defense and in defense of others, stating that the deceased man fired first. The gun belonging to the deceased was recovered on Sunday afternoon.
Kinzer is being booked on the parole violation warrant and faces new charges of gun possession by a convicted felon. The investigation into the fatal shooting will be reviewed with the District Attorney’s Office upon its conclusion.

Progress in South Nashville Shooting Investigation
Homicide Unit detectives are advancing their investigation into the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Rickey O. Hale, who was found collapsed behind Lakeshore Christian Church on Bell Forge Lane. Preliminary findings indicate that Hale was shot late Wednesday night in the vicinity of the church. The investigation is ongoing as detectives collect more evidence and information.
