Murfreesboro, Tenn. – On February 9, 2025, the Murfreesboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division began investigating a series of vehicle break-ins at several hotels located off Medical Center Boulevard. The incidents occurred between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. and affected a total of 39 vehicles across three hotels and an apartment building in the Conference Center Blvd. area. The break-ins resulted in smashed windows and the theft of personal items, including five firearms.
The affected locations include Embassy Suites with 16 vehicles, Courtyard by Marriott with 9 vehicles, Hilton Garden Inn with 7 vehicles, and Vintage at the Avenue with 7 vehicles. Additionally, two vehicles, a 2013 Hyundai Sonata and a 2016 Toyota 4-Runner, were reported stolen and later found wrecked and still running near the crime scenes.
Surveillance footage shows three individuals in dark clothing and hoodies in the parking lots of two hotels. They are believed to have been driving a white Nissan Maxima with a black roof and temporary tags. Detective Aaron Gonzalez emphasized the importance of community vigilance and urged residents to report any suspicious activity. “Our department is committed to finding those responsible and ensuring the safety of our community,” Gonzalez stated.
In response to the incidents, officers have increased patrols in the area and are advising both residents and visitors to keep vehicles locked and valuables hidden from view. Stolen Designer Sunglasses Recovered in Miami
Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stolen designer sunglasses were recovered in Miami, Florida, following a collaborative investigation involving multiple police departments and Homeland Security. The sunglasses, stolen from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and two locations in South Carolina, were traced to Miami, leading to a search warrant and the seizure of merchandise valued at $890,000. Three men from Miami have been charged and are in custody, accused of being part of a retail theft ring responsible for stealing $1.2 million in merchandise and cash across several states.
