TSSAA Council Reviews Transfer and Residence Rules

The TSSAA Legislative Council discusses potential changes to transfer and residence rules.

The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) Legislative Council convened on Tuesday, February 4, in Mt. Juliet to evaluate potential amendments to the Transfer and Residence Rules. Despite thorough discussions, all three proposals presented were denied in their current form. However, the council indicated plans to revisit these topics in future proposals.

The Legislative Council has called for a special meeting before the regularly scheduled meeting in April. During this meeting, the council will consider new language that would permit student transfers without affecting eligibility if the transfer is for non-athletic reasons. Additionally, the staff has been tasked with proposing changes to the residence rule to ensure it applies uniformly to all students.

Further insights and details from the meeting can be found in the Legislative Council Summary (February 4, 2025) (PDF).
