A 25-year-old Nashville resident, Melissa Mayes, has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of organized retail crime and theft. Mayes is accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from various stores across Nashville during 2024 and 2025. She is currently held in Metro Jail with a bond set at $115,500.
Organized Retail Crime detectives had been attempting to locate Mayes, previously residing at 2400 Buena Vista Pike, for some time. She was apprehended on a Monday night while reportedly shoplifting from a drug store on Gallatin Avenue.
The charges against Mayes include the theft of $200 from Walgreens on Charlotte Pike, $5,433 from LensCrafters at Nashville West Shopping Center, $8,633 from Sunglass Hut inside Macy’s at Green Hills Mall, $5,400 from another LensCrafters location, and several other incidents involving significant amounts of merchandise from stores like Ulta, Lululemon, Marshall’s, and Sephora.
In total, Mayes faces 15 felony and 3 misdemeanor charges related to organized retail crime and theft.

Nashville Men Face Federal Weapons and Drug Charges
Three men from Nashville with prior felony convictions, Carlos J. Rodriguez, George Charles Carter III, and Keontis Jenkins, have been charged with federal offenses related to firearms and drugs. The charges include possession of firearms by felons and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances. The cases are being investigated by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, with prosecution led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rachel M. Stephens. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
