The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) has announced the inclusion of Magotteaux Inc., located in Pulaski, as the newest member of the Tennessee Green Star Partnership. This program acknowledges manufacturers throughout Tennessee that are dedicated to sustainability and continuous improvement in their operations.
Magotteaux operates a dual operation foundry in Pulaski, producing products for the cement, mining, and aggregate industries. With 25 facilities across the globe, Pulaski is the company’s sole dual production location in North America. TDEC Commissioner David Salyers praised Magotteaux, stating, “The Green Star Partnership program shines a light on businesses that put an emphasis on sustainability, and Magotteaux is an excellent example. Magotteaux sees the need for responsible action and embraces it. We are thrilled to welcome it into this program.”
The Pulaski facility has demonstrated its commitment to sustainability through various projects, including maintaining four International Organization of Standardization (ISO) certifications, such as ISO 14001, which focuses on environmental performance. The facility has achieved significant savings by repairing air leaks, recycling over 2,000 pounds of materials monthly, shutting down the baghouse during non-production hours, and upgrading its lighting system, leading to substantial energy savings.
To join the Tennessee Green Star Partnership, manufacturers must operate under an ISO 14001 certification, or an equivalent environmental management system, and have maintained at least three years of outstanding environmental compliance with TDEC.
