KUB has resumed normal operations as of February 21, 2025, after a period of heightened electricity demand caused by extremely cold weather conditions. The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), which operates the regional power grid, is also back to normal functioning following the increased demand.
The heightened demand led to a public appeal for energy conservation to ensure the stability of the regional electricity supply. These requests to lower energy use have now been lifted, though consumers are still encouraged to conserve energy when possible.
“We appreciate the efforts of our customers who helped alleviate the situation through voluntary conservation measures,” stated Gabriel J. Bolas II, President and CEO of KUB.

KUB encourages customers to lower thermostats, delay using large appliances, reduce lighting, and eliminate unnecessary electricity use to help manage the demand on TVA’s grid and prevent service disruptions.
