Investigation of Nashville Mall Robbery and Fatal Shooting

Nashville police investigate a robbery and shooting linked to Omari Moore.

Detectives in Nashville are charging Omari Moore, a 30-year-old convicted felon, with aggravated robbery and unlawful gun possession. The charges are related to a robbery at Green Hills Mall, where a man was targeted after exiting with shopping bags from a high-end retailer. Moore and an accomplice fled the scene in a Tesla sedan, which later crashed into a tree. The driver of the vehicle, a 30-year-old Nashville man, was found shot and subsequently died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Notification of his next of kin is pending.

The investigation reveals that the victim, carrying Louis Vuitton bags, was approached by Moore, who appeared to be armed. A struggle ensued, during which Moore seized the shopping bags and returned to the Tesla. The victim pursued the car and appeared to throw an extended gun magazine at it. Police recovered the magazine and two spent shell casings from the parking lot.

Following the crash, Moore exited the vehicle and approached a nearby guardrail. A semi-automatic pistol, missing its magazine, was found beyond the guardrail. Moore stated he was unaware of when the driver was shot or how it occurred. He did not disclose their whereabouts before the crash.

The circumstances surrounding the driver’s fatal shooting remain under investigation. Detectives are also seeking to identify the robbery victim, who left the scene before police arrived. They are urging him to come forward for an interview.

Moore has a criminal history, including convictions for burglary and felony theft in Nashville in 2022, for which he received a two-year sentence. He also has previous convictions for felony theft and evading arrest in Henderson County.
