Investigation Continues in Nashville Fatal Shooting Case

Nashville police investigate a fatal shooting involving robbery suspect Omari Moore.

Nashville police have identified Emmanuel M. Easley, 30, as the deceased individual in a shooting incident following a robbery at Green Hills Mall. Omari Moore, also 30, has been charged with aggravated robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm. Moore is accused of robbing a shopper carrying bags from a luxury retailer.

After the robbery, Moore fled in a Tesla sedan driven by an accomplice. The vehicle later crashed into a tree off the I-65 north entrance from I-440. The Tesla’s driver, who remains unidentified, was found shot and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. Efforts are ongoing to notify the driver’s next of kin.

The incident began when Moore and the driver observed the shopper in the mall’s parking lot. Moore exited the vehicle, reportedly armed with a pistol, and engaged in an altercation with the shopper, taking the shopping bags. Moore then returned to the Tesla, which drove off as the shopper attempted to pursue it, throwing an extended gun magazine at the vehicle.

Following the crash, Moore exited the Tesla and approached a nearby guardrail. Police recovered a semi-automatic pistol missing a magazine from the scene. Moore claimed he was unaware of when or how the driver was shot and refused to disclose their location before the crash.

Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the shooting and are seeking to identify the robbery victim, who left the scene before police arrived. Authorities urge the victim to contact them for an interview.

Moore has a criminal history, including convictions for burglary and felony theft in Nashville in 2022 and other offenses in Henderson County. The investigation is ongoing, with detectives working to piece together the events leading up to the fatal shooting.
