A Creekbank Repair Workshop is scheduled for Friday, March 7, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the City of Knoxville Public Works Service Center, located at 3131 Morris Avenue. The workshop aims to educate participants on cost-effective and beneficial techniques for stabilizing erosion along creekbanks, a common issue faced by property owners with streams and creeks.
Erosion can lead to property damage, threaten infrastructure, and impact aquatic life by disrupting fish and insect habitats. To address these concerns, experts from the University of Tennessee, Knox County Stormwater, City of Knoxville Stormwater Management, and other local partners will provide demonstrations on a variety of field techniques. These techniques include bank-shaping using hand tools, erosion control, live staking, and native planting.
The workshop agenda includes morning classroom sessions followed by lunch and an afternoon of on-site field application at Spring Place Park. Materials, tools, and supplies will be provided for participants. Attendees are advised to wear suitable footwear and bring work gloves. Transportation to the work site will be the responsibility of the participants.
The registration fee is $30 per person, which covers the cost of lunch. Interested individuals can register online by March 3.
The Tennessee Water Resources Research Center, TVA, and Tennessee River Basin Network are providing additional support for this workshop. For inquiries, individuals can call 865-215-5800 or email [email protected].
