The City of Murfreesboro has announced the appointment of Amanda DeRosia as the new City Finance Director, effective February 23, 2025. Erin Tucker, the City’s Chief Financial Officer, expressed her confidence in DeRosia’s abilities, highlighting her commitment to accurate and timely financial reporting. DeRosia, a Certified Public Accountant, has been a part of the Finance Department for nine years, serving as Interim Finance Director and Accounting Manager in the past.
Throughout her tenure, she has been instrumental in audit preparations, software upgrades, and process improvements. DeRosia holds an accounting degree from Middle Tennessee State University, a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from the University of Memphis, and a bachelor’s degree in history from Liberty University.
The City of Murfreesboro’s Finance Department is known for its excellence in financial accounting, having received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association for 26 consecutive years. The City has also been recognized in the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards program for 14 years.
Erin Tucker, who was appointed as the Chief Financial Officer on August 25, 2024, has been with the City in various roles since December 2008. Prior to DeRosia’s interim role, the position was held by Jennifer Brown and Melissa Wright, with Wright retiring in 2021 after three decades of service. Melanie Joy Peterson assumed the role of City Clerk in June 2024.
