A 12-year-old male student from Head Middle School has been charged in Juvenile Court following a threat of mass violence made on school property. The incident occurred on January 24, when a social media post containing a threat to shoot up the school was discovered. Specialized Investigations detectives from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) conducted an investigation which led to the identification of the student responsible for the post. The student has since been arrested. The MNPD emphasizes the seriousness with which threats against schools, special events, and businesses are treated, and assures that individuals responsible for such threats will be prosecuted once identified.
