The Tennessee Department of Transportation has released the construction report for East Tennessee for the week of January 23 to 29, 2025. This update provides details about ongoing construction projects, road closures, and potential traffic disruptions in several counties.
In **Blount County**, motorists on I-140 East and West should expect shoulder closures and possible lane closures nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for a roadside construction project. Similarly, SR 162 Pellissippi Parkway is reduced to one lane due to bridge work, with potential rolling roadblocks from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. The SR 334 bridge repair over CSX Railroad will also cause lane closures.
**Campbell County** will see possible nightly lane closures on I-75 between Mile Markers 156 and 161, and SR 63 is undergoing construction, causing potential temporary lane closures.
In **Carter County**, the US 321/SR 67 Bridge over the Doe River and a section of US 321/SR 159 are closed due to storm damage. Alternative routes are advised.
**Cocke County** has closed I-40 East at Mile Marker 451 due to storm damage, with local traffic permitted only between Mile Markers 447 and 451. Additionally, US 25/70 is closed to thru truck traffic in North Carolina.
**Greene County** reports several projects, including guardrail repairs on I-81 South near Mile Marker 48.6, and lane closures on SR 35 and SR 107 Bridge over the Nolichucky River are noted due to storm damage.
**Hamblen County** has construction on US 25/SR 32 for concrete rehabilitation, while **Jefferson County** will see possible lane closures on I-40 West between Mile Markers 420 and 418.
In **Knox County**, several interstates will experience mobile lane closures for maintenance, and the I-40 East Ramp to Alcoa Highway will have potential lane closures due to concrete repairs.
**Loudon, Monroe, Morgan, and Roane Counties** also have ongoing construction projects, with lane reductions and closures affecting traffic flow.
**Sullivan County** will have lane closures for various construction projects, including bridge repairs on SR 93 and sidewalk construction on SR 126.
**Unicoi County** has lane reductions on I-26 East and West, with sections of SR 36 and SR 81 closed due to storm damage.

Tennessee Solid Waste Management Grant Applications Open
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) is accepting applications for its solid waste materials management grants, available to communities and eligible entities across the state. The Waste Reduction and Organics Management grants are open from February 28 to April 11, while Technical Assistance grants are available from February 28 to March 28. Additional grant categories, including Convenience Center and Used Oil Grants, will be open later in the year. Applications must be submitted online through TDEC’s Grants Management System, with more information available on their website. The grants are funded by the Solid Waste Management Fund and Used Oil Collection Fund, and TDEC will host workshops to assist applicants in the process.
