Update on Antioch High School Shooting Investigation

Investigation ongoing into Antioch High School shooting involving a 17-year-old shooter.

The investigation into the tragic shooting at Antioch High School on Wednesday morning has provided further insights into the incident. Seventeen-year-old Solomon Henderson, the identified shooter, fired ten shots from a nine-millimeter pistol within 17 seconds upon entering the school cafeteria. Police recovered the pistol, which had nine rounds, and an additional magazine with seven rounds was found on the cafeteria floor.

A search of Henderson’s residence on Carefree Lane revealed no firearms or related parts. It has been confirmed that Henderson was driven to school by his mother, contrary to initial reports of him taking the bus. Before entering the cafeteria, he posted photos on social media from a nearby restroom.

Detectives have discovered two extensive documents, believed to have been created by Henderson, on non-traditional websites. These materials, consisting of one document with 51 pages and another with 288 pages, are under detailed examination by Homicide Unit detectives, Specialized Investigations Division, and the FBI. The investigation indicates Henderson was significantly influenced by harmful web-based content. The FBI is collaborating with the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) to investigate these ideological influences further.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, & Firearms (ATF) is assisting in tracing the gun’s origin. It has been determined that the gun was purchased in Arizona in 2022 and was not reported stolen. Investigations are ongoing both locally and out of state to trace its acquisition by Henderson.

MNPD Chief Drake has expressed condolences to the Antioch High School community, and officers are providing support to those affected by the incident. Counseling services are available in English and Spanish through the department’s Family Intervention Program at 615-862-7773. Discussions with the school system regarding campus safety are ongoing as classes are set to resume.

The MNPD emphasizes the seriousness with which it handles threats against schools and institutions. In unrelated cases, three individuals were arrested today for making threats, with further details to follow in an upcoming media release.
