TVA Requests Power Conservation from KUB Customers

TVA urges KUB customers to conserve electricity during cold weather.

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has issued a request to the Knoxville Utilities Board (KUB) and other local power companies to encourage customers to conserve electricity. This request comes as TVA faces increased power demand due to extremely cold temperatures across the region. The aim is to extend the available power supply and prevent potential service interruptions.

Gabriel J. Bolas, President and CEO of KUB, expressed gratitude for customers’ cooperation, stating, “We appreciate our customers joining us in these steps to reduce the strain on TVA’s grid. While this is a precautionary measure, it can have a big impact as we work to meet the demand for electricity.”

To assist in conserving power, KUB suggests several actions for its customers:

– Set thermostats to the lowest comfortable setting.

– Delay using large electrical appliances such as dishwashers, dryers, and cooking equipment. If necessary, use them during the warmest part of the day when electricity demand is lower.

– Businesses should reduce lighting and switch off office equipment that is unnecessary.

– Avoid non-essential electricity usage, including decorative lighting for hallways, walkways, and patios.

For further updates and energy conservation tips, customers are advised to visit KUB’s website at www.KUB.org.
