TSSAA Introduces Student Advisory Committee for 2025

TSSAA launches a Student Advisory Committee to involve student-athletes in decision-making.

The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) has announced the formation of a Student Advisory Committee set to commence in Spring 2025. This initiative aims to provide a platform for student-athletes to voice their opinions, offer input on relevant issues, and contribute to various initiatives within the organization.

The committee will comprise 20 members, with six representatives from each of the three regions of Tennessee: East, Middle, and West. These members will act as ambassadors, representing a diverse group of young athletes from schools across the state.

The primary objectives of the TSSAA Student Advisory Committee include addressing current issues faced by student-athletes, providing feedback on challenges they encounter, offering input on rules and regulations affecting their experiences, contributing to special initiatives for improving the athletic environment, and promoting a positive image of student-athletes.

Mark Reeves, Executive Director of TSSAA, expressed the importance of this new committee, stating, “The creation of the Student Advisory Committee is a significant step in ensuring that the perspectives of student-athletes are integral to the decisions made within TSSAA governance. This committee will help bridge the gap between student-athletes and leadership, fostering an environment where student achievements are celebrated and valued in shaping the future of high school athletics in Tennessee.”

Applications for the committee will open on March 1st, with the application available for download on the official TSSAA website. The application period will remain open until April 1st, and committee members are expected to be selected by May 1st. Interested students are encouraged to apply for this opportunity to impact the athletic landscape of Tennessee positively.

More information, including application details and qualifying criteria, can be found on the TSSAA website as the launch date approaches. Questions regarding the committee can be directed to Lexie Crawford at lcrawford@tssaa.org or Lamar Lee at llee@tssaa.org.

The TSSAA is the governing body for high school athletics in Tennessee, dedicated to ensuring fairness, safety, and the promotion of sportsmanship across the state. It serves as a resource for student-athletes, coaches, and administrators, promoting the educational value of athletics.
