Tennessee AG Wins Case Against Title IX Rules

Tennessee AG Skrmetti wins against Biden's Title IX rules for privacy concerns.

Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti has successfully challenged the Title IX rules proposed by the Biden Administration. The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky found that the U.S. Department of Education’s rules, which aimed to address issues related to privacy in locker rooms and bathrooms and the use of pronouns consistent with gender identity, overstepped federal authority and violated constitutional principles.

Initially, the district court had issued a preliminary injunction against these rules for Tennessee and its coalition states in June. The recent court order expands this injunction, completely nullifying the Title IX rules nationwide. This decision is seen as a measure to protect children’s privacy and limit what has been described as federal overreach.

Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti expressed his satisfaction with the ruling, emphasizing it as a victory for Tennessee and advocating for common sense and the protection of women and girls across the country. Skrmetti criticized the Biden Administration’s approach as unconstitutional and illegal. The ruling paves the way for potential changes to Title IX regulations, which may be revisited by future administrations.
