Murfreesboro, Tenn. – On January 28, 2025, investigators from the Murfreesboro Police Department’s Fatal Accident Crash Team are working to determine whether speed contributed to a tragic two-car collision that resulted in one fatality and three injuries. The accident occurred on Middle Tennessee Blvd., between Park Ave. and Haley Road, at approximately 6:43 p.m. on Monday, January 27.
The incident involved a Mazda MZ6 and a Nissan Rogue. A male passenger in the Mazda was pronounced dead at the scene by Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services. Additionally, a five-year-old child was trapped in the Mazda and had to be extricated by firefighters from the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department. The child, currently in critical condition, and the female driver, who is stable, were transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
The driver of the Nissan Rogue was taken to Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver of the Rogue was traveling westbound when the vehicle collided with the Mazda, which was attempting a left turn onto Middle Tennessee Blvd. The force of the impact also caused the Mazda to hit a parked car in a nearby parking lot.
Authorities are focusing their investigation on whether speed was a significant factor in this crash. The investigation is ongoing.
