The “Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman” series has been celebrating the history of bluegrass music since its inception in 1994, playing a significant role in the revival of the Ryman Auditorium post-renovation. Over the years, it has become a key event in honoring the legacy of bluegrass pioneers, including Bill Monroe, commemorated with a life-size statue on the Ryman’s Icon Walk in 2017. More about Monroe and the Ryman’s Bluegrass legacy can be found here.
The Ryman Auditorium, a National Historic Landmark built in 1892, is known as the “Mother Church of Country Music” and was the former home of the Grand Ole Opry from 1943 to 1974. It is a 15-time winner of the Pollstar Theatre of the Year award and hosts over 200 shows annually. The venue is open for daytime tours year-round and has been featured in numerous film and television projects. Ryman Auditorium is owned by Ryman Hospitality Properties, Inc., a Nashville-based real estate investment trust that also owns the Grand Ole Opry, WSM Radio, and Ole Red.
