A parolee in Tennessee, Torrance Lamont Cosby, aged 48, has been arrested and charged with trafficking a 17-year-old runaway girl for commercial sex acts. Cosby, who has a history of convictions related to cocaine and robbery offenses, was taken into custody by authorities at a motel on Brick Church Pike late Tuesday. The charges against him include trafficking for commercial sex, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a stolen pistol.
The arrest was a result of a coordinated investigation involving agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), staff from the Department of Children’s Services, and detectives from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department’s Special Victims Unit. The investigation was initiated after the TBI discovered an internet advertisement featuring the teenager. Following a joint operation, the girl was safely removed from the situation, and Cosby was identified as the individual allegedly controlling her activities and collecting the proceeds. During the arrest, a stolen pistol was found hidden under Cosby’s mattress.
Cosby has a criminal record that dates back to the 1990s, with his latest conviction involving cocaine, which led to a 15-year prison sentence in 2015. Due to the current charges, the state has issued a parole violation warrant against him.
