Overview of the PTSD Firefighter Presumption Grant Program

The James (Dustin) Samples Act mandates support for PTSD-related workers' compensation for firefighters.

The James (Dustin) Samples Act has established a grant program designed to address the workers’ compensation costs associated with PTSD diagnoses in firefighters. This program aims to provide necessary financial assistance to support the mental health and well-being of firefighters experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder.

In accordance with this legislation, the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation is tasked with delivering an annual report by February 1st each year. This report is to be submitted to the chairs of the state and local government committee of the Senate, as well as the local government committee of the House of Representatives.

This mandated report will provide valuable insights into the implementation and impact of the grant program, ensuring continuous evaluation and improvement to better serve the needs of firefighters.
