A Nashville resident, William Adams, age 24, has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault, assault against a police officer, evading arrest, and reckless driving. The charges follow an incident on Broadway at 8th Avenue South, where Adams allegedly rammed vehicles due to frustration with congested downtown traffic after a Nashville Predators hockey game.
According to reports, Adams bypassed barricades and was approached by a uniformed Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) officer directing traffic. The officer instructed Adams to turn off his vehicle and present his driver’s license. Adams refused, reversed his pickup truck, and drove off at high speed. In the process, he struck three small sedans occupied by individuals who were at risk of serious injury and narrowly missed hitting a police officer.
The investigation led to Adams being found at his residence on Ewing Drive, where he was subsequently taken into custody. A judicial commissioner has set Adams’ bond at $53,000.
