A Nashville man with a history of felony convictions, and who was out on bond for a previous robbery and shooting case, has been arrested again for a violent crime. George Charles Carter III, aged 48, is facing charges of attempted murder following an incident that occurred early Sunday at the intersection of Lafayette and Lincoln Streets.
The 24-year-old victim, Behroz Salmani, was shot while inside his vehicle, reportedly following an argument over money. During the incident, Salmani accelerated his Jeep Wrangler and collided with a Toyota SUV, sustaining serious injuries to both arms. Fortunately, the occupants of the Toyota remained unharmed.
Carter was identified as the suspect through surveillance video and was seen fleeing the scene in a Dodge Avenger. Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division coordinated efforts for Carter’s arrest, which took place Monday after he led officers on a pursuit involving a police helicopter.
In addition to the attempted murder charge, Carter faces multiple charges, including unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon, gun possession in the commission of a dangerous felony, evading arrest, and possession of methamphetamine for resale. His bond has been set at $1,226,000.
At the time of his latest arrest, Carter was free on a $50,000 bond related to a May 2024 arrest for shooting and robbing an individual on Herman Street.
