The City of Murfreesboro’s Community Development Department is now accepting applications from local non-profit organizations for three distinct grants aimed at providing services and housing for eligible residents. Community Development Director Robert Holtz emphasized the city’s long-standing commitment since 1984 to supporting low- and moderate-income individuals through the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The three grants available are the CDBG Public Service Grant, Emergency Solutions Grant, and the HOME Investment Partnership Grant. Applications for these grants are open to local non-profit and government agencies until February 14, 2025. Interested parties can apply online through the city’s designated application portal.
The CDBG Public Service Grant is designed to enhance the capacity of agencies serving the low- to moderate-income community within Murfreesboro. Eligible activities include youth services, educational programs, job training, recreational programs, services for seniors, and homeless services. The Emergency Solutions Grant is aimed at non-profit agencies that offer essential services to those experiencing or at risk of homelessness, with eligible activities such as homelessness prevention, rapid rehousing, emergency shelter, street outreach, and homeless management information systems (HMIS). Lastly, the HOME Investment Partnership Grant addresses housing needs for the low- to moderate-income community, supporting activities like homeowner rehabilitation, homebuyer assistance, rental housing, and tenant-based rental assistance.
Applications must be submitted by Thursday, February 14, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. For additional information, potential applicants can visit the Community Development webpage here.
