In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, all City of Murfreesboro offices and most recreational facilities will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025. Residents should note that there will be no garbage collection on this day. The schedule will shift, with Monday’s collection moving to Tuesday, January 21, and Tuesday’s collection to Wednesday, January 22.
Murfreesboro Transit, the city’s public transportation service, will also be inactive on this federal holiday. While most facilities of the Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department will not operate, the Adams Tennis Complex will maintain its regular hours from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on MLK Jr. Day.
Due to low temperatures, the Old Fort Golf Course and Bloomfield Links will not open, but the Old Fort clubhouse and practice range will remain accessible. The St. Clair Street Senior Center will be open on Saturday, January 18, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Sunday, January 19, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., but will be closed on the holiday.
The day also features the Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day March, commencing at noon on January 20 from Central Magnet School, located at 701 E. Main St., and progressing to Patterson Park Community Center. The march will travel east on East Main to Middle Tennessee Blvd., before turning right to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Participants can gather at Central High School from 11 a.m. for the start of the march.

Metro Water Services Winter Weather Advisory
Metro Water Services has suspended trash and recycling collection due to severe winter weather, with services expected to resume on January 13.
