Man Arrested for Vandalism and Harassment

Charles Maguire arrested for vandalizing a library and harassing a church.

Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division have arrested Charles Maguire, 49, in connection with incidents of vandalism and harassment in Nashville. Maguire faces charges for vandalizing the Nashville Public Library’s Green Hills branch on December 14, where he spray-painted a swastika on the glass front door. Additionally, he is accused of leaving harassing voicemails to the Green Hills Community Church on multiple occasions, including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and December 30.

Prior to the vandalism incident, Maguire had been asked to leave the library and has a known history of harassing and threatening behavior towards the church. On November 30, he was previously arrested for leaving harassing messages directed at the church and for two counts of vandalism against the Mental Health Cooperative, where he allegedly poured a bottle of what appeared to be urine through a window slot. He was released on a $3,000 bond for these charges.

Following the latest incidents, a judicial commissioner set Maguire’s bond at $2,000 on the new warrants.
