KUB (Knoxville Utilities Board) has announced a return to normal operations following a period of heightened electricity demand due to extremely cold temperatures. The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), which operates the regional power grid, is also reverting to standard operations after experiencing similar demand increases.
The public had been urged to conserve energy to help maintain the regional electricity supply during the cold snap. These requests have now been lifted, though consumers are still encouraged to conserve energy when feasible.
“We appreciate the efforts of our customers who helped alleviate the situation through voluntary conservation measures,” stated Gabriel J. Bolas II, KUB President and CEO.
