The City of Knoxville is set to host a public meeting on January 28, 2025, at 6 p.m. at the City’s Public Works Service Center, located at 3131 Morris Avenue. The meeting aims to present collected data and information regarding Knoxville’s housing and neighborhood development needs, which will inform the drafting of the 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan.
Participants in the meeting will have the chance to ask questions and offer feedback. This initiative is part of a five-year planning process conducted by the City’s Housing and Neighborhood Development department. The plan outlines how federal funds will be allocated to address local priorities in affordable housing, homelessness, economic development, and other community development activities that assist low- and moderate-income households. These funds are sourced from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)’s Community Development Block Grant, HOME Investment Partnerships, and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG).
The meeting is part of an ongoing community engagement process that began in 2024, including public meetings and consultations with service providers and community groups. Housing and Neighborhood Development Director Kevin DuBose stated, “More than 600 residents have been involved and let us know their priorities and which local needs they want to support. We’ve been listening to the community about housing and other community needs for a long time, and I’m eager to continue this conversation through the next public meetings and input opportunities.”
Residents can review the draft Consolidated Plan in April and provide additional feedback before it is submitted to HUD by May 15, 2025. Feedback can also be submitted via email to [email protected] or in writing to Linda Rust at the City of Knoxville Housing and Neighborhood Development Department, P.O. Box 1631, Knoxville, TN 37901.
