Dolly Parton's original musical to premiere at Belmont University before heading to Broadway.

Dolly Parton, a globally renowned singer and songwriter, is set to premiere her original musical, “DOLLY: AN ORIGINAL MUSICAL,” at the Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Belmont University in Nashville. The musical will preview on July 18, with its official premiere on August 8. Tickets are available now through the official musical’s website, www.dollymusical.com, and the Fisher Center Box Office.

The production, which will later move to Broadway in 2026, features music by Parton, including some of her well-known hits and new songs written specifically for the musical. The script is co-written by Parton and Maria S. Schlatter, while the production is directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher. The musical is a collaborative production by Parton, Danny Nozell, ATG Productions, and Gavin Kalin Productions.

Parton expressed her excitement about debuting the musical in Nashville, where she has deep roots in the music industry. She emphasized that Nashville, her musical home for over 60 years, is the perfect location for the world premiere.

In addition to the musical, Belmont University has announced the launch of “DOLLY U,” an educational initiative offering students immersive experiences across various disciplines. This program aims to cultivate creativity, innovation, and character development, inspired by Parton’s career. As part of “DOLLY U,” six students will participate in a semester-long fellowship with CTK Enterprises, gaining hands-on experience in the production of the musical.

Belmont University President Dr. Greg Jones highlighted the alignment between Parton’s values and the university’s mission to foster character, innovation, and creativity among students. Danny Nozell, Founder and CEO of CTK Enterprises, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Belmont University, emphasizing the opportunity to create a new model for nurturing future creators and visionaries.

The collaboration is expected to provide Belmont graduates with valuable skills, preparing them for leadership roles in their respective fields. It also aims to establish a workforce pipeline that benefits both corporate and nonprofit entities in Nashville and beyond.
