Detectives from the Violent Crimes Division are currently on the lookout for a dark-colored Nissan Maxima, which is believed to be involved in a series of recent robberies. The vehicle has been linked to at least two incidents where a man forcibly stole women’s purses.
The first robbery occurred on January 7th on Elkins Avenue at 50th Avenue North. During this incident, a gray Maxima pulled up to a woman walking on the street. A man exited the vehicle, brandishing a handgun, and demanded her purse. After taking the purse, which contained an iPhone 12, a debit card, and a social security card, the suspect knocked the woman to the ground.
The second incident was reported on January 8th. A woman inside her apartment complex’s communal laundry room on Woodmont Boulevard encountered a man she believed to be another resident. The man, however, put a gun to her head and demanded money. He took her wallet and keys before fleeing in a gray Maxima.
A third robbery occurred on January 9th at the Aldi grocery store on Nolensville Pike. A man approached a woman as she was loading groceries into her trunk and demanded her purse. When she stated she did not have one, he pulled off her jacket, which contained her driver’s license, debit card, iPhone 14, and car keys. The iPhone 14 was later found at Radnor Avenue at Meade Street.
The authorities have urged anyone with information about the gray Maxima or the suspect involved to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
