Convicted Offender Charged with Aggravated Statutory Rape

Antwan Cowan arrested for allegedly raping a 13-year-old runaway.

Youth Services detectives have charged Antwan Cowan, a 46-year-old convicted sex offender, with three counts of aggravated statutory rape. The charges stem from allegations that Cowan engaged in sexual acts with a 13-year-old runaway. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) officers discovered Cowan and the teenager in a vacant apartment at James Cayce Homes on S. 8th Street during a routine check.

During questioning, Cowan admitted to having sexual relations with the minor on three occasions over the past two weeks. The most recent incident occurred in the apartment where they were found. The teenager has been reported as a runaway multiple times and has been returned home by police on several occasions. The Department of Children’s Services is involved in addressing this aspect of the case.
