City Property Taxes Due Date and Payment Information

Property taxes were due by December 31, 2024, with late payments incurring interest.

Property owners are reminded that city property taxes were due by December 31, 2024. Payments made after this date are subject to interest charges. Tax billings for the year were mailed on September 30, 2024, and were available for payment on the city’s website starting October 1, 2024.

Interest on late payments begins accruing from January 1, 2025, at a rate of 1.5% per month, or any part of a month, applied to the base tax until full payment is made. Acceptable payment methods include cash, check, or credit card, but bank counter checks or two-party checks are not accepted.

Property owners can access their tax information and make payments online through the city website. Payments by mail should be addressed to the City of Murfreesboro and sent to P.O. Box 1139, Murfreesboro, TN 37133-1139. In-person payments are accepted at City Hall, located on the 1st Floor of the Finance Department at 111 West Vine St., Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The city and county participate in the State of Tennessee Property Tax Freeze Program. Low-income senior citizens or disabled veterans may qualify for the State of Tennessee Property Tax Relief Program, potentially reducing their property taxes.
