Calypso Cafe Undergoes Ownership Change in Nashville

Calypso Cafe in Nashville transitions to new ownership for the first time in 36 years.

Calypso Cafe, a prominent fixture in Nashville’s dining scene for nearly 36 years, has announced a change in ownership. Founders Allison and Phil Brooks have sold the cafe to David and Sally Parker, effective January 1, 2025. David Parker, a Nashville native and cousin of Allison, will lead the operations. With a background in the software industry, David brings leadership experience and a passion for the Calypso brand.

Allison Brooks expressed confidence in the future under David’s guidance, emphasizing the continuity of the cafe’s values and community focus. Known for its healthy, Caribbean-inspired cuisine, Calypso Cafe operates from its 100 Oaks location and offers full-service catering. Although the pandemic led to the temporary closure of other locations, David Parker plans to re-expand the cafe’s presence in Nashville with extended hours, to-go and delivery options, and eventually new locations.

David reassured customers that the beloved recipes and team will remain unchanged, highlighting his longstanding support for the cafe. Calypso Cafe, established in 1989, is celebrated for its rotisserie chicken, Caribbean-inspired sides, and fresh, healthy offerings.
