Antioch High School to Welcome Additional School Resource Officer

Antioch High School will add a third school resource officer to enhance safety.

Antioch High School in Nashville will receive an additional permanent school resource officer (SRO) starting tomorrow. This initiative makes Antioch the first comprehensive high school in the area to be equipped with three SROs, rather than the usual two. Chief John Drake of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department announced the decision, emphasizing the role of SROs in fostering a safe school environment and building strong relationships with students and staff.

Chief Drake stated, “The mission of our SROs is to enhance safety in the school environment while building relationships with students and staff. We want the 2,200 students of Antioch to know that the police department supports them and wants to be part of the healing process as students return to campus on Tuesday. A third SRO provides for more visibility and the opportunity for more relationship building at this very large high school.”

Alongside the newly appointed SRO, additional police officers will be present on the Antioch High School campus throughout the week. This increased police presence aims to assure students and parents that school safety remains a top priority for both the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department and the entire Metropolitan Government.
