West Tennessee Construction Updates for December 2024

Tennessee halts lane closures for holiday travel, with ongoing construction across multiple counties.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has announced a temporary halt on all lane closure activities on interstates and state highways during the Christmas and New Year travel period. This pause will begin at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, December 23, 2024, and continue through 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. However, there may still be necessary daytime or nighttime lane closures at various locations in Region 4 for repairs or new installations as needed across the 21 counties.

In District 47, Carroll County will experience lane closures on SR-76 (US-79) for grading, drainage, noise walls, signals, and paving. Meadowbrook Lane and Big Buck Road are currently closed, with detours provided. Intersection improvements on SR-22 at Clyde Road and Lexington Street at the Huntingdon Industrial Park will also cause lane closures. In Dyer County, SR-211’s bridge over the North Fork Forked Deer River will have outside lane closures for inspection. Additionally, work on SR-76 (US-79) from Gibson to Carroll County will result in temporary lane closures.

In District 48, Chester County will have bridge repairs on U.S. 45 starting October 1, 2024, affecting southbound traffic. Hardin County’s SR128 over the Pickwick Dam will have temporary lane closures with one lane open at all times.

District 49 covers Fayette County, where SR-222 will have temporary lane closures due to grading, drainage, signals, and paving activities. SR-76 construction will reduce traffic to one lane, with temporary signals at Lagrange Road and Kay Lane. In Shelby County, SR-175 and SR-4 will undergo nightly lane closures for roadway widening, while SR-14 will experience shoulder and temporary lane closures for grading and paving work. The I-55 interchange at E.H. Crump Blvd. will have intermittent lane closures and detours.

In Tipton County, US-51 at the Kenwood Avenue intersection will have daily lane closures for safety improvements, ensuring at least one lane remains open in each direction.
