Tennessee Launches Rural Healthcare Resiliency Grants

Tennessee offers $50 million for rural healthcare improvements through new grant program.

The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) has unveiled a new grant opportunity aimed at expanding healthcare services in rural areas across the state. The initiative, known as the Rural Healthcare Resiliency Program, is supported by a $50 million fund and is designed to assist 15 to 25 projects within 89 rural counties in Tennessee. This program has been made possible through funding from Governor Bill Lee and the Tennessee legislature’s TennCare Shared Savings Program.

Governor Bill Lee emphasized the importance of community-driven solutions in addressing healthcare challenges in rural areas, stating that these investments are a central priority for his administration. Tennessee Health Commissioner Ralph Alvarado expressed gratitude towards the governor and the General Assembly for their continued support, highlighting the positive impact these grants will have on local health leaders and communities.

The TDH is seeking applications for projects that enable providers to deliver integrated, high-quality healthcare services, invest in innovative care delivery models, address needs identified in County Health Assessments, and enhance access to healthcare for underserved populations, including minorities and rural communities.

Interested parties must submit their applications by January 24, 2025. Additional information can be found on TDH’s Funding Opportunities Webpage at TDH’s Funding Opportunities Webpage.

The mission of the Tennessee Department of Health is to protect, promote, and improve the health and well-being of all Tennesseans. Further details about TDH services and programs are available at www.tn.gov/health.
