On Monday, Nashville authorities arrested 10 teenagers found in two stolen vehicles, alleged to have been involved in recent armed robberies. The arrests were made possible through the coordinated efforts of the Violent Crimes Division detectives, the Rapid School Safety team, the Canine Unit, and the Aviation Unit.
The incident began when detectives located a stolen Kia Soul at Cane Ridge Park. The occupants of this vehicle were meeting with individuals inside a stolen Nissan Maxima. The Nissan Maxima had been taken in an armed carjacking that occurred on Sunday morning on Murfreesboro Pike, involving three male suspects.
As the vehicles were tracked by aviation and Violent Crimes Division detectives, they separated on Murfreesboro Pike. The Nissan Maxima was eventually stopped at a gas station where four teenage occupants were arrested. During the arrest, the 17-year-old driver attempted to flee, while passengers, two aged 14 and one aged 17, were seen discarding firearms out of the vehicle windows. Authorities recovered two pistols, one of which was confirmed stolen, and an automatic rifle from outside the vehicle.
Following the capture of the Maxima’s occupants, the stolen Kia Soul was tracked to Post Oak Drive. There, all six occupants, including a 14-year-old driver, two aged 15, two aged 14, and one aged 13, attempted to flee on foot but were quickly apprehended.
Charges against the 10 juveniles range from possession of a handgun by a minor, theft of a firearm, vehicle theft, joyriding, and evading arrest. Additionally, the 17-year-old driver of the Maxima faces charges of aggravated robbery. The investigation by Violent Crimes detectives is ongoing, with further charges anticipated.
