The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department has identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed on I-40 East as 22-year-old Austin S. David from Mt. Juliet. The incident occurred between the Donelson Pike and Stewarts Ferry Pike exits. Officers discovered David’s body at approximately 11:15 a.m.
Preliminary investigations indicate that David was walking along the right side of I-40 East, near lane four, when he was initially struck. Subsequently, he was run over by other vehicles in lane three. The exact time of the collision is yet to be determined, though it may have occurred as early as 2 a.m. There were no witnesses or vehicles that stayed at the scene.

I-24 Closures for Bridge Demolition in Tennessee
The Tennessee Department of Transportation will close sections of Interstate 24 in Coffee County nightly for four weeks to replace the US 41 bridge, rerouting traffic via Exit 105 ramps.
