A fatal accident occurred on Sunday night at the I-40 East exit ramp to Old Hickory Boulevard and Central Pike, resulting in the death of a female pedestrian. The incident took place around 10 p.m. and involved a Toyota Corolla.
According to preliminary investigations, a black Chevrolet 1500 became disabled after a wreck on the exit ramp overpass, partially blocking the right lane. A second vehicle stopped to assist the driver of the Chevrolet. Arbadellia Richardson, a 64-year-old passenger from Old Hickory, attempted to warn oncoming traffic using her phone flashlight. Tragically, she was struck by the oncoming Toyota while between the two vehicles and died at the scene.
The 25-year-old driver of the Toyota was taken to Summit Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. He indicated that he was unable to avoid the collision upon seeing the disabled Chevrolet and Richardson. Investigators found no signs of impairment at the scene.

Nashville Woman Faces Vehicular Homicide Charge
Shynithia L. Stone, 36, was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide by recklessness after a fatal accident on August 23 at the intersection of Ewing and Gwynnwood Drives in Nashville, which resulted in the death of 46-year-old Tamika Petway. Stone allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign, leading to a collision with Petway’s vehicle, and was found to be speeding at the time of the crash. Stone is currently held on a $76,000 bond.
