On Sunday night, Shynithia L. Stone, aged 36, was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide by recklessness following a fatal crash in August. The incident occurred on August 23 at the intersection of Ewing and Gwynnwood Drives, leading to the death of 46-year-old Tamika Petway, a resident of Nashville.
The investigation revealed that Stone was driving a 2017 Infiniti QX60 SUV south on Gwynnwood Drive when she failed to stop at a stop sign at the Ewing Drive intersection. This resulted in a collision with the driver’s side door of Petway’s 2018 Chevrolet Camaro. Petway was immediately transported to Skyline Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries. Stone, on the other hand, sustained non-critical injuries and was taken from the scene for medical attention.
Further analysis of the event data recorder from Stone’s vehicle indicated that she was traveling between 47 mph and 52 mph just before the collision, exceeding the speed limit of 30 mph. Stone is currently being held on a bond of $76,000.
