A Nashville man, Kealin Hicks, aged 27, has been arrested on charges of first-degree murder following the fatal shooting of Diandre Starks, 24, on August 27, 2023. The incident occurred on Rosa L. Parks Boulevard at the I-65 entrance ramp. Starks was reportedly driving a stolen Honda Pilot SUV when he was shot, leading to a crash and subsequent fire. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries the following day.

In addition to the murder charge, Hicks faces two counts of attempted first-degree murder after gunfire struck a second vehicle, a Jeep Grand Cherokee with two occupants. The driver, aged 23, was not injured but reported that shots were fired as he was entering the interstate, causing him to duck and crash.

Authorities apprehended Hicks while he was driving a stolen Infiniti sedan. After an attempted escape, he was stopped using spike strips and was subsequently found in possession of two pistols, marijuana, and multiple key fobs. Hicks is currently held on a $250,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing to determine the involvement of others in the incident.

Increase in Gun Thefts from Vehicles in Davidson County

Despite a slight decrease compared to the previous year, the MNPD has implemented a special operation to combat vehicle-related crimes, resulting in numerous arrests and recoveries.
