Murfreesboro Holiday Closures Announced

City of Murfreesboro offices and services to close for Christmas and New Year’s.

The City of Murfreesboro has announced that its offices will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day to observe the holidays. On Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24, the Solid Waste Department will operate on a normal schedule. However, there will be no garbage collection on Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25. Instead, Wednesday’s collection will be moved up to Tuesday, December 24. Similarly, no garbage collection will occur on New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1, 2025, with Wednesday’s collection taking place on Tuesday, December 31. Residents are asked to place garbage carts by the street the night before collection. The Solid Waste administrative offices will also be closed on December 24-25 and January 1, 2025. Murfreesboro Transit, the city’s public transportation service, will not be operational on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. The Old Fort and Bloomfield Links golf courses will remain closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day but will operate during regular hours on December 24 and December 31, weather permitting.

The Senior Center will close on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, reopening with regular hours on Thursday, December 26. It will also close at 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and remain closed on New Year’s Day, reopening on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Adams Tennis Facility will follow a similar schedule, closing on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, reopening on December 26, closing at 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, and remaining closed on New Year’s Day, reopening on January 2, 2025.

Various recreational facilities, including McFadden Community Center, Patterson Park Community Center, Sports*Com, Wilderness Station, Cannonsburgh Village, Bradley Academy Museum, and Adams Tennis Facility, will be closed on December 24 and 25. All facilities will reopen on December 26. On New Year’s Eve, McFadden and Cannonsburgh Village will be closed, while Patterson and Sports*Com will close at 5 p.m. All facilities will be closed on New Year’s Day and will reopen for regular hours on January 2, 2025.

The Main Parks & Recreation Office, now located at 2140 N. Thompson Lane, will observe the same closure schedule. City business offices will resume regular operating hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on December 26 after the Christmas holiday and on January 2, 2025, after the New Year’s holiday.

WeGo Transit Special Services for New Year’s Eve

WeGo Public Transit in Nashville will provide special New Year’s Eve services on December 31, 2024, including shuttles between Broadway and Bicentennial Mall, and a WeGo Star train service.
