The Murfreesboro Christmas Parade is set to take place on Sunday, December 8, at 2 PM, continuing a cherished tradition on the second Sunday of December. This year’s theme, “A Vintage Christmas,” invites participants to decorate their floats with vintage styles. The parade will feature floats, bands, and dancers making their way down Main Street, celebrating the holiday season.
Acting as parade marshals this year are Rick Insell, the head coach of the MTSU Women’s Basketball team, and Matt Insell, the associate head coach, alongside the Blue Raiders Women’s Basketball team. The parade will conclude with Santa Claus and his sleigh.
The parade route begins at the intersection of East Main Street and Middle Tennessee Boulevard, proceeding around the downtown square, and ending at East Main Street and Walnut Street.
Road closures will be in effect to accommodate the parade. E. Main Street from Womack to Walnut Street will be closed starting at 1 PM and will reopen by 5 PM at the latest. N. Walnut Street between W. Vine and W. College will close at 2 PM and reopen after the parade. Detours from Middle Tennessee Boulevard at E. Lytle Street and E. Vine Street will be in place from 1 PM until the parade passes, anticipated by 3 PM. Additionally, Alumni Drive will be closed starting at 9 AM.
For those unable to attend in person, Murfreesboro CityTV will broadcast the parade live. It can be viewed on Comcast Xfinity channel 3 and 1094, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, mobile devices, and online at Murfreesboro CityTV Live.
