The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) is preparing for its annual accreditation assessment conducted by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA). This assessment, which ensures that the MNPD maintains its professional standards, will occur from January 24 to February 1, 2025. Additionally, the MNPD Training Academy will have its web-based assessment from May 30 to June 7, 2025.
During these periods, CALEA-appointed assessors will virtually examine the department’s procedures, operations, management, and instructional services. The MNPD as a whole must meet 463 standards, while the Training Academy is required to comply with 161 standards. The MNPD has maintained its CALEA accreditation since 1994, and the Training Academy since 2011.
In 2023, CALEA introduced a public access portal, allowing community feedback on the MNPD’s service and its dedication to being a model law enforcement agency. This portal can be accessed through this link: MNPD CALEA Accreditation Portal. It is important to note that these portals are managed by CALEA, and while submissions are acknowledged, there will be no further response. The feedback collected will be considered in the context of the MNPD and Training Academy’s efforts to meet CALEA’s standards.
