MNPD Officers to Ensure Safety During Nashville’s New Year’s Eve Events

MNPD officers will be deployed for safety during Nashville's New Year's Eve celebrations.

Hundreds of officers from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) will be actively working New Year’s Eve to ensure safety in key areas such as downtown Nashville, the Bicentennial Mall, and the Gulch. This deployment aims to safeguard both residents and visitors attending the “Nashville’s Big Bash” festivities. The MNPD encourages everyone celebrating the New Year to stay alert and keep their belongings secure. Attendees are urged to report any suspicious activities to nearby officers. It’s important to note that only clear bags will be allowed at Bicentennial Mall State Park, with backpacks, coolers, and duffel bags prohibited.

The Bicentennial Mall State Park will host the official “Big Bash” event, with gates opening at 5 p.m. The program, featuring performances by Jelly Roll, Keith Urban, Kane Brown, and others, will be broadcast nationally and conclude at 12:30 a.m. Attendees should familiarize themselves with the house rules on prohibited items.

Several road closures will be in effect around the Bicentennial Mall, north of Jefferson Street, including 6th and 7th Avenues North and Junior Gilliam Way. Additionally, Broadway downtown will be closed between Representative John Lewis Way and 1st Avenue.

For those using rideshare services, designated drop-off and pick-up locations will be on Jefferson Street between 5th and 7th Avenues, and on Rosa Parks Boulevard between Harrison and Jefferson Streets.

Plans are in place to help reunite people with lost items, such as cell phones and wallets. Those who lose items at Bicentennial Mall events can visit the Visitor’s Center at Bridgestone Arena on New Year’s Day from noon to 5 p.m. The Nashville Convention and Visitors Corporation will oversee this initiative. For items lost in downtown or the Gulch, individuals can visit the lobby of the police department’s Central Precinct at 601 Korean Veterans Boulevard on New Year’s morning until noon. MNPD staff will assist in reuniting people with their belongings.

The MNPD’s New Year’s Eve operations are conducted in collaboration with the FBI, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Nashville Fire Department, Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee State Parks, Nashville’s Office of Emergency Management, and the Nashville Department of Transportation.
