Logan Garver, aged 23, has been charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication and reckless conduct for the incident on December 3 that resulted in the death of 22-year-old Austin David. The tragic event occurred on I-40 East, where David’s body was found between the Donelson Pike and Stewarts Ferry Pike exits. According to reports, David was with Garver on the evening of December 2, as confirmed by David’s family who contacted the Crash Investigations Unit.
On December 4, officers, following a tip from a citizen, located Garver’s GMC Sierra pickup truck at Southpoint at Stones River Apartments. The vehicle, covered by a tarp, showed significant damage on its passenger side. It is believed that David was ejected from the truck and subsequently struck by multiple vehicles, none of which remained at the scene.
Garver reportedly admitted to several individuals that he had fallen asleep or blacked out while driving. Upon regaining consciousness, he found his truck had been involved in a crash. Surveillance footage also captured Garver and David leaving a club, with Garver appearing to stumble out of the establishment before entering his vehicle.
In addition to the vehicular homicide charge, Garver faces several other charges, including reckless endangerment, evidence tampering, leaving the scene of an accident involving death, and failure to render aid. He is currently held on a $103,000 bond.
