A Goodlettsville resident, 18-year-old Destin Wyndham, was arrested after allegedly pointing a green laser at a Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) helicopter. The incident occurred on Cumberland Station Boulevard, following a report from a BNA tower about a laser being shined at an airliner’s cockpit.
When the MNPD Aviation Unit responded to the area, the laser was directed at their pilots as well. Subsequently, patrol officers located and apprehended Wyndham, recovering the laser used in the incident. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a first responder and was released on a $20,000 bond.
Pointing lasers at aircraft is a serious offense, as it can significantly impair a pilot’s vision, posing a substantial risk to public safety. Individuals found responsible for such acts face prosecution due to the potential danger involved.

Detectives in Nashville arrested Zahnaee Chaney and Calvert Johnson after a police chase involving a Nissan Altima, resulting in the seizure of firearms and drugs. Both individuals, who are convicted felons, face multiple charges including possession of a handgun and drug possession. Chaney is additionally charged with theft, vandalism, evading arrest, and reckless driving, and remains in custody on a $30,000 bond, while Johnson is held on a $24,000 bond.
