A series of quick responses by Central Precinct officers led to the arrest of 25-year-old Michael Ezell in connection with a string of business burglaries in Nashville. The break-ins occurred early Monday morning, starting at 2:30 a.m., and were reported at six locations, all within an hour of each other. The targeted businesses included Metro Wine and Spirits on Church Street, Downtown Nashville Wine and Spirits, SoBro Wine and Spirits, Downtown Nashville Market, Nashville Wine and Spirits, and Downtown Fresh Market.
Officers reviewing surveillance footage obtained a description of the suspect, which facilitated the identification of Ezell. He was located on Hermitage Avenue and attempted to flee but was apprehended shortly thereafter. Upon his capture, Ezell was found with approximately $2,000 in cash within his backpack.
Further investigation revealed that Ezell possessed keys to each of the businesses he burglarized and confessed to the crimes. It was noted that all the businesses are owned by the same company, where Ezell has been employed since June. He is currently facing six counts of burglary and is being held on a $90,000 bond.
